On August 11, 2025, Melody Living Lake in the Hills’ Memory Care neighborhood transformed into a celebration of furry friends, community spirit, and heartfelt giving during our Dog Days of Summer event. Hosted in partnership with Project Hope Animal Rescue Foundation and benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter, the day was filled with joy, wagging tails, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

From the moment guests arrived, they were greeted with the happy energy of adoptable pets looking for their forever homes. Residents, families, and visitors had the chance to meet these lovable companions up close, learn about each one’s story, and connect with the mission of Project Hope Animal Rescue Foundation, a dedicated nonprofit that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.

Our talented Memory Care residents played a starring role in making the day special. In the weeks leading up to the event, they poured their creativity and love into crafting handmade dog treats, cozy pet beds, and playful toys. Each item was sold during the event, with proceeds going directly to the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter, which provides vital programs, services, and research funding in the fight to end Alzheimer’s.

The community was alive with laughter, conversation, and the occasional bark as families enjoyed the summer sunshine and supported two incredible causes. Many attendees left not only with treats and gifts for their pets but also with a deeper connection to our Memory Care’s mission of compassion and care.

At Melody Living Lake in the Hills, events like Dog Days of Summer reflect our belief in the power of purposeful engagement. For our residents, especially those in Memory Care, contributing to causes they care about fosters a sense of pride, connection, and joy — and for our community, it’s a reminder of the difference we can make when we come together.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, or adopted, and to our wonderful partners at Project Hope Animal Rescue Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter. You’ve helped make a real impact while creating memories that will last long after the dog days of summer are gone.
